Jeri Vuskovich Thorne Prieto

Gerardine “Jeri” Vuskovich Thorne Prieto, 89, passed away on February 4, 2022. Jeri was born October 9, 1932, in Harvey, LA, to Matthew and Frances Cavaretta Vuskovich. She was raised in Gretna and graduated from Holy Name of Mary High School in Algiers in 1950. She then relocated to Slidell with her husband, Robert “Bob” Thorne, where he practiced law for 40 years. Jeri embraced many social, civic, and philanthropic endeavors in Slidell. She was active in the Slidell Little Theatre and other local theatre, The Inner Wheel Club, The Women of the Moose, and the Mystic Krewe of Perseus, among other organizations. Jeri also enjoyed modeling through much of her life.
Jeri loved to sing, and regularly devoted her time and talents to entertaining at community events and various nursing homes in St. Tammany Parish. Jeri also was the consummate hostess with an eye for detail who loved to throw parties for friends and family.
She and Bob were longtime members of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
Jeri was preceded in death by her brother Vincent Vuskovich, sister Fay Vuskovich Stafford, husband Bob Thorne, and second husband Ernest Prieto. She is survived by her daughters, Robin Thorne Huffman (Stokes), and René Thorne Bullington (Paul); brothers, Dr. Matthew Vuskovich (Lona) of Gainesville, FL, and Joseph Vuskovich (Regina) of Indianapolis, IN; her grandchildren, Molly Mueller, Mary Huffman, Robert “Adam” Huffman, step-grandchildren, Tracey Bullington and Mitchell Bullington; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the charity of your choice.
Visitation will be held at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA on Saturday, February 19, 2022 from 11am to 1:30pm. A Funeral Mass will follow in the funeral home chapel. Interment Westlawn Memorial Park, 1225 Whitney Avenue, Gretna, LA.
