Jerry Joseph Hano Sr.

Jerry "Smokey" Joseph Hano, Sr. passed away on December 30, 2013 at the age of 81. Beloved husband of Jacqueline “Jackie” M. Hanley Hano for 60 years. Father of Michael Hano (Carmen Berggren) and the late Jerry Joseph Hano, Jr. (wife Vickie). Son of the late Irene Dufrene Hano and Harold M. Hano. Brother of Rosemary H. Centinneo, Lois H. Chong, and the late Shirley H. Ruiz. Brother in law of James, Raymond, and Janet Hanley. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. A native and lifelong resident of Algiers, LA. He was in the 10th Infantry Battalion of the United States Marine Corps, Hammack Hunting Club, Veterans Umpire Association, and American Legion Post 218. He retired after 27 years of service to the New Orleans Police Department. Special Thanks to Passages Hospice for their care in his time of need. He will be sadly missed by family and friends. Relatives and Friends of the Family are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church, 400 Verrett St., Algiers, LA on Friday, January 10, 2014 at 9:30 AM. Visitation will be at church from 8:30 AM until mass time. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society.
