Jerry Joseph Ockman, Sr., a native of Algiers, LA died peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, May 14, 2014. He was the beloved father of Jerry “Jay” Ockman, Jr, wife Leslie, and Tracy Lynn Barletter, husband Brian. Paw Paw was adored by his grandchildren Catherine, Jacob and Brice Ockman and Benjamin, Kimberly, Joshua and Amanda Barletter. Son of the late Helen May Triche and late Irvin Joseph Ockman, Sr. Brother of Richard P. Ockman, Sr., wife Dianne, Irvin J. Ockman, Sr., wife Debra and David A. Ockman, Sr., wife Joyce. Former husband of the late Catherine Chifici and late Phyllis Fabiano. Jerry was considered an honorary father to many, especially his stepchildren Jeremiah and Marianna Bonney and Jesse Bradt. Favorite uncle and friend, Jerry could always be depended on to lend an ear or a helping hand. Jerry’s favorite time of year was Mardi Gras and he was the Captain of Try it Again Carnival Club for over 30 years. He showered his grandkids with love and attention and enjoyed watching movies, working in his workshop and taking naps on his recliner. His funny way of telling a story and loud laughter will be forever missed.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expy., Harvey, LA on Saturday, May 24, 2014 from 11AM until 1PM. The Funeral Service will follow at 1 PM.
