Jerry John Thiel

Jerry John Thiel, age 83, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2024 at his residence in Gretna, LA. Loving husband of the late Juliette M. Thiel for 64 years and father of Charles A. Thiel (Lisa), Curtis E. Thiel (Lisa), Tammy S. Thiel, Laura T. Smith (Gregory), Rodney J. Thiel (the late Irene), and Frank J. Thiel (Heidi). Grandfather of Chelsey, Chloe, Cecil, Nicole, Jonathan, Toreen, the late Jerry, Rodney Jr., Joseph, Curtis, Kaitlynn, and Karson. Great-grandfather of many. Jerry was born on January 18, 1941 in New Orleans to the late Amelia Vinet Thiel and Rodnest Thiel of New Orleans, LA. Brother of John Thiel Sr., the late Joseph Thiel, the late Herman Thiel, the late Mary ann Cochran, the late Margie Thiel, JoAnn Thiel, and the late Clifton Thiel. Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expressway, in Harvey beginning at 9AM until 11:15AM. A funeral mass will be held at 12PM at St. Cletus Catholic Church in Gretna, LA. A memorial graveside will take place at Westlawn Memorial Park in Gretna at a later date.
