Jiovanni "Jio" Michael Dahl

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Jiovanni, aged 8, who left us far too soon. Jio was the beacon of joy and love, known for his biggest heart and biggest smile, which could light up any room. He was born on 8/12/2015 and was the beautiful son of Haleigh Adams. He was the beloved grandson of Scott and Allison Adams and great grandson of Darlene and Melvin Adams and Willie and Gwen Kerner. He leaves behind his Nanan, Gabby Adams and Aunts Ame, Olivia and Tara, treasured cousins Linest Parfait IV (Whitney) and Jacob Parfait. Also cousins, Kayson, Kyler, Leo and Sophie. He is also survived by great uncles Willie Kerner, Jr. (Vicky), Ryan Adams (Angela) and Todd Adams (Erin) along with their families. He blessed the lives of a host of extended family members. He was preceded in death by his grandmother Erin Kerner, devoted Paran Steven Williamson and great aunt Jenny Kerner Williamson. Born with autism, Jio faced challenges with spirit that inspired everyone around him. His pure and innocent soul brought immense joy to all who had the privilege of knowing him. He lived his life with an extraordinary capacity for love and happiness. Jiovanni will be remembered for his infectious laughter, his love of powdered donuts and the unique light he brought into our lives. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

Please join his family to celebrate his life on Thursday July 11, 2024 at Mothe’s Funeral Home, 7040 Lapalco Blvd, Marrero. Family visitation will be 9am-10am, open visitation will be from 10am-1:30pm with a service to follow. Burial will be at Westlawn Memorial Park, 1225 Whitney Ave, Terrytown following conclusion of services.

The family asks that donations be made in Jiovanni Dahl’s memory to Atlas Autism Center, contact atlasautismcenter@gmail.com. Atlas is a local school that is dedicated to creating a world of inclusion, guidance and support of our local autism community. They were instrumental in Jiovanni’s progress and education and he loved them dearly.
