Marrero resident Jo Ann Hays, 70, died November 7, 2014. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2014, at Algiers United Methodist Church, located at 637 Opelousas Avenue, New Orleans. Family and friends visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:00 P.M. Services beginning at 7:00 P.M. Jo Ann loved bright cheerful colors, so attendees are encouraged to feel free to dress in bright and cheerful manner to honor her. Mrs. Hays was born January 2, 1944 in El Paso, Texas to James and Dorothy Cunningham. Jo Ann lived a rewarding life in kindness to other people, and animals. She spent a year as a teenager in Tunisia, lived in Texas and Arkansas, and eventually settled in the New Orleans area. She was the manager of the Latter & Blum Marrero office for over 17 years, and was selected as Manager of the Year in an industry-wide competition. She was loved and respected by her coworkers and friends. Jo Ann was an active member of the Algiers United Methodist Church for 36 years. She was the caretaker of her ill parents in her home for over a decade. She is survived by her husband of 24 years Harvey, her daughter Darci and husband Warren Wilbratte, her son Deserick and wife Diana Davenport, her sister Oneita Law, and brother, David Cunningham, as well as numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to the American Diabetes Association , or the National Kidney Foundation.
