Joan Cognevich Cannon entered into eternal rest on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at the age of 84. Beloved wife of the late James M. Cannon. Loving mother of Tressie Cannon Adams (Keith) and the late Thomas R. “Tommy” Cannon and James M. “Jimmy” Cannon, Jr. Grandmother of Keith C. Adams, Jr. (Jenny), Tiffani AdamsMelancon (Neil), Melissa L. Cannon and the late Jason James Cannon. Great Grandmother of Tyler Melancon, Brad Melancon, Kacie Adams, Jenae’ Adams and Cannon Thomas Tycer. Daughter of the late Simon (Simeon) Cognevich and Antoinette Mistich Cognevich. Sister of Joyce Cognevich Youngblood, Floyd C. Cognevich, Patrick D. Cognevich and the late John M. Cognevich, George Cognevich, Simon P. Cognevich, Luke Leo Cognevich, Felix A. Cognevich, Warren W. Cognevich, Maurice E. Cognevich and Dewey J. Cognevich. Half-Sister of the late Simon Cognevich, Jr. and Louis M. Cognevich. Joan was a lifelong resident of Buras, LA. She was a member of the Ladies Altar Society at Our Lady of Good Harbor Catholic Church before Hurricane Katrina. A visitation will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Highway 23, Port Sulphur, LA on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 from 8:45AM until 10:30AM. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church on Wednesday at 10:30AM. Interment will be in Our Lady of Good Harbor Cemetery, Buras, LA. MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA in charge of arrangements.
