Joan Picou graciously accepted the open arms of our loving Father Jesus Christ after a courageous battle with dementia in Gretna, Louisiana on Monday, October 5, 2015. Born in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1940; Joan was a resident of New Orleans for most of her life. Joan had a spiritual relationship with her children and subsequently with grandchildren who followed. Joan was well-liked by everyone and shall be dearly missed.
Joan attended Redemptorist High School and met her beau Frank J. Campbell in 1956 in her sophomore year. Upon getting married in 1958; they journeyed together to Syracuse, New York where she borne three (3) children in upstate New York. Joan returned to New Orleans in 1964 to raise her family and where her final child arrived in 1966. Joan truly enjoyed spending time with her family with her children and grandchildren as well as listening to religious music.
Preceded in death by her father; Claude Picou, mother; Norma Picou and ex-husband; Frank J. Campbell. Surviving family include her brother Donald Picou, Sister-in-law Carolyn Picou, her children; Steven (Julie Heymann Campbell), Chris Campbell, Kelly Jenkins (Pat Kozel), and Cheryl Manzella. Grandchildren Sabrina, Krystal, Kathy, Nicholas, Rodney, and Jacob, Nieces; Carrie Fernandez, Denise Mancuso, Donna Schaferkotter, and nephew Donald Picou Jr.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expy., Harvey, LA on Saturday, October 10, 2015 from 10 AM to 11 AM.
