Joan “MamMaw” Barrois Rousselle transitioned peacefully into the love and light of God’s Kingdom on Saturday, October 10, 2015. She was 86 years old. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 45 years, Calvin Joseph Rousselle; her son-in-law, Blane Peter Ronquille, Sr.; her great grandson, Caleb Taylor Ronquille; her brothers, Vernon Barrois and Warren Barrois; and her mother and father, Gladys and Isedore Barrois of Pilot Town, Louisiana. She was a lifelong resident of Plaquemines Parish. She is survived by her daughters, Wanda Rousselle LaPorte (James) and Rebecca “Becky” Rousselle Ronquille; her grandchildren, Marc Gerard LaPorte and Lauren Elizabeth LaPorte, Joseph Michael Ronquille (Ashlee) and Blane Peter Ronquille, Jr. (Julie); and her great grandchildren, Sarah, Logan, Kaylee and Paxton Ronquille. Family, friends and community were most important to her, and when she wasn’t supporting the young people at the ballpark, she was entertaining others with colorful stories of life in Southeast Louisiana from life on the river, the dance halls of old and her love of Pete Fountain’s music. She was loved and will be missed by many people in the community, many who have, at one time or another, dined at her table. Family and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Visitation at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Highway 23, Belle Chasse, LA on Thursday, October 15, 2015 from 9AM until 11AM. A Memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church on Thursday at 11AM. Interment will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA. In lieu of flowers, Masses preferred in memory of Joan. MOTHE FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements.
