Joan Sipes Winchell

Joan Sipes Winchell passed away on December 23, 2011. She was 77 years of age and resided in Algiers, LA. Beloved wife of Richard L. Winchell. Mother of Michael Allen Winchell (Karen), Susan Winchell (Jo Cain), Debbie Winchell Tremont (Joe) and the late Richard M. Winchell. Grandmother of Jodi, Joshua, Kevin, Alyssa, Ryan, David and Kaitlyn. Sister of William “Bill” and John “Jack” Sipes. Daughter of the late Winefride Ferrell Sipes and Francis A. Sipes. Joan began her career in the real estate industry in 1977. She held a Texas broker’s license until 2001. Joan obtained her Louisiana broker’s license in 1983 and has been managing since 1988. Joan held the CRB, CRS and GRI designations. She is a member of the National Association of Realtors, Louisiana Real Estate Association, the New Orleans Metropolitan Association of Realtors as well as being a licensed instructor for the Louisiana Real Estate Commission. Joan has chaired numerous committees and NOMAR and held position on the Forms Committee, Awards Committee, MLS Committee and the Professional Standards Committee. In 2003, Joan was honored with the “2002 Manager of the Year Award” by the New Orleans Metropolitan Association of Realtors. She was a member of the Algiers Presidents Association and the Algiers Economic Development Foundation and Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 1300 Vallette Street, Algiers, LA on Monday, December 26, 2011 from 10 AM to 11 AM. A Memorial Mass will follow.
