Joann Randolph Fitzhenry

And God whispered, “It’s time”. JoAnn R. Fitzhenry entered into his heavenly home on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at the age of 78 years. Beloved wife of 56 years to the late Frederick Patrick Fitzhenry Sr. Mother of Freddie Fitzhenry Jr. (Claudia), Cathryn Fitzhenry Bender (Joey) and Kevin Fitzhenry (Hollie). Grandmother of Rene Poche’ Jr. (Ashlie), Cory and Chad (Sarah) Bender, Bradley (Jeniffer), Lance and Erin Fitzhenry, Hollie Marie, Heather and Ashley Fitzhenry.
She is the proud great-grandmother of twins, Averie and Hudson Poche’ and Adriana Fitzhenry.
Our mom was an advocate for the Humane Society and Boxer Rescue of Louisiana. She rescued her beloved canine friend “Oscar” the boxer. She will be deeply missed by Oscar who has been recently placed in a wonderful and loving home.
She was a native of Algiers, LA and resided in Covington, LA. In her younger years, she swam in the AAU Junior Olympics held in Texas and went on to teach swimming to many children while living in Avondale.
She retired from Monahan Brothers Printing in New Orleans after 28 years and then worked part-time for Keller-Williams Realty in Mandeville for 10 years.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOMES, 1300 Vallette Street, Algiers, LA on Monday, August 1, 2016 from 9 AM to 11 AM. A Funeral Mass will follow at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church, 400 Verret Street in Algiers at 11:30 AM. Interment Westlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, her children requests donations in her memory to the Louisiana Boxer Rescue, 8921 Camille Drive, River Ridge, LA 70123.
