Joel Ernest Massey

Joel Ernest Massey passed away peacefully on February 7, 2015 at the age of 92 in the presence of his loving family. A native of Columbia, MS, a resident of Algiers and a resident of Harvey, LA for over 60 years. Beloved husband of the late Juanita Calzada Massey for 71 years. Son of the late Maude Rowe Massey and the late Joel Holly Massey. Brother of the late Beatrice Molaison, Ruth Lundsgaard and Doris Lee Hicks. Father of Joel Edward Massey (Diette) and Janet M. Ditta (George). Grandfather of Nicole M. Brown (Brad), Jennifer M. Weber, George J. Ditta, II (Carmen) Gregory M. Ditta (Tammy) and Lisa D. Schexnayder (Brad). Also survived by 14 great grandchildren. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and retired from American Cyanamid. Relatives and Friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the chapel of Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expwy., Harvey, LA on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at 1pm. Interment Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA. Parlors will be open Thursday morning from 11am until 1pm.
