John Michael Bourgeois, 73, who passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at his residence, in Breaux Bridge, LA.
John was known for his unwavering dedication as a wireline engineer. With unparalleled expertise and commitment, he navigated through the intricacies of his profession, leaving an enduring legacy in the field. Through his tireless efforts and innovative spirit, John became a driving force in shaping the industry for future generations.
John worked at numerous places such as Superior Energy, Baker Hughes, HTS Wireline, Weatherford, Computalog, and CRC Wireline. Each place of employment provided him with the knowledge to prevail in those industries.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, John was a man of many passions and pursuits. He found peace and joy in various hobbies that enriched his life and brought him immense fulfillment. Whether it was swinging clubs on the golf course or connecting with others through baseball and softball games, he exuded passion and sportsmanship in all he undertook.
Traveling was another cherished aspect of John's life. From vibrant cities to serene natural landscapes, he explored the world with curiosity and awe. Each journey provided him with an opportunity to immerse himself in new cultures, to grow as an individual, and to forge lifelong memories along the way.
At home or away, one of John's greatest pleasures was attending UL baseball games. As a fervent fan of the sport, he reveled in each match's thrilling moments with unparalleled enthusiasm. The joy radiating from his face as he cheered alongside fellow fans created an electric atmosphere that encapsulated the spirit of sport itself.
However, above all else, John treasured spending time with his beloved grandchildren. Their laughter and innocence brought immeasurable happiness to his heart, reminding him of the undeniable importance of family bonds. He nurtured their dreams, shared in their triumphs and challenges, and imparted upon them a profound sense of love that will forever shape their lives.
John Michael Bourgeois was a man whose presence lit up every room he entered. With his magnetic personality and kind-hearted nature, he effortlessly connected with others, leaving an everlasting impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Though his physical presence may be gone, his spirit will continue to inspire and guide us as we carry forth his memories.
He is survived by his wife, Gay Bourgeois; sons, Jeremy (Jenny) Bourgeois and Joshua (Jennifer) Bourgeois; daughters, Heather Durel (Todd) and Amy Bourgeois; grandchildren, Ethan Bourgeois, Zachary Bourgeois, Emma Bourgeois, Maeve Bourgeois, Shelby Durel, Gabriel Durel, Brooklyne Durel, Matthew Blankenship, Jason Matherne,Jr., Roman Matherne, and Lucus Matherne.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alcide Joseph Bourgeois and Maverine Mary Boudreaux Bourgeois; and his brother, Marvin Joseph Bourgeois.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 9:30 am at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA. A Memorial Service will begin at 11:00 am followed by interment at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 1225 Whitney Ave, Terrytown, LA. In Lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Palliative Care of Acadiana and/or Hospice of Acadiana.
