John Joseph Bourgeois Sr

John Joseph Bourgeois Sr. passed away peacefully on January 4, 2024 at the age of 81. Beloved husband of Diane Rome Bourgeois. Loving father of John Bourgeois Jr. (Dana), Scott Bourgeois (Kim), and the late Todd Bourgeois. Grandfather of Todd Bourgeois, John Bourgeois III, and Christopher Bourgeois. Great-grandfather of Cash. Brother of Birlie Bourgeois Jr. (the late Cindy), Gloria Jenkins (the late John), the late Calvin Bourgeois, and the late Jimmy Bourgeois (the late Barbara). Son of the late Birlie Bourgeois Sr. and Vivian Martin Bourgeois. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
John was a butcher for years at several area markets and later worked at Union Carbide (Dow) and retired from Avondale Shipyard after 25 years of service. He was a talented mechanic and helped family and friends get back on the road. He was always willing to lend a hand and will be sadly missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at Mothe Funeral Home, 7040 Lapalco Boulevard, Marrero, LA on Thursday, January 11, 2024 from 10am to 1:30pm. A Funeral Mass will follow. Interment will take place at a later date at Westlawn Memorial Park in Gretna.
