John (Jack) Dennis Brossette,, Sr.

John (Jack) Dennis Brossette, Sr. passed away on May 2, 2016 at the age of 86, surrounded by his loving wife and children. Jack was born in the Irish Channel on July 30, 1929 and lived in Marrero for the past 62 years. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Geraldine (Gerry) Lew who was his best friend and the love of his life. He was father to Jacqueline B. Biles, John D. Brossette, Jr., Mark A. Brossette (Nina), and Theresa Lew Brossette. He was the proud grandfather to Julie Grantz, Robert Biles, Melissa Dejean, Dennis Brossette, Carrie Harmon, Patricia Gardner, David Brossette, Eric Brossette, and Amanda Dominick. He was great grandfather 22 times to Alexandra and Roman Grantz, Mackenzie Biles, Victoria Brossette Felicia Dejean, Frankie Dejean, Errol Linden, Enola Linden, Marissa Torbert, Romie Brossette, Christopher, Kyle, and Addison Harmon, Devon Shipley, James and Meadow Gardner, Seth, Ressa, and Kayla Brossette and Felicity Cotton, Tyler and Travis Macaluso. He was great-great grandfather to Noel Duplessis. Jack was brother to Alfred J. Brossette. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frances Dowling and Francis Brossette; sisters Geraldine Gulizo, Mamie Standidge, Eileen B. Odom, and his brother Frank Brossette. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. Jack was a Marine during WWII, worked for Halliburton and Schlumberger in his early years, and retired from J.Ray McDermott in 1984. He could build anything, and built 2 camps and completed many home additions and yard projects over the years. He enjoyed gardening, painting, Irish Channel Corner Club activities, and just being with his wife. He was an excellent cook and a constant comedian who will be remembered as a strong good man, the perfect husband and father who was always kind, gentle, loving, and giving - and always a Marine. The family would like to thank Lakeside Hospice, especially Denise and Leonard, along with the Drs. and Nurses of Ochsner Westbank (Drs. Hannah, Sheridan, Ogden, and LeBrun), 3rd floor nurses (especially Juliette, Purita, Deanna, Carlita) and others who cared for him and always put his best interests first. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Seelos Center, 919 Josephine St., NOLA 70130 www.seelos.org . Relatives and friends, along with employees of Jefferson Financial Credit Union, John Ehret High School, French’s Welding and Marine, KHOM/WEZB/WLMG Radio Stations, and CDM Smith are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME located at 7040 Lapalco Blvd. Marrero, LA 70072 on Thursday, May 5, 2016 from 6PM until 10PM. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Friday, May 6, 2016 from 10AM until 1PM. Funeral Services will be held in the funeral home chapel with Internment following immediately at Westlawn Cemetary located at 1225 Whitney Avenue, Gretna, LA 70056.
