John Lloyd Marchese

John Lloyd Marchese, retired Vice President of Marketing at Louisiana Gas Service Company in Harvey, Louisiana, died Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at West Jefferson Medical Center. Beloved husband of Sylvia Danigole Marchese. Brother of Rosary Marchese, Agnes “Peachy” Marchese, Margaret M. Laughlin, the late Anthony “Don”, Frank “Bing”, Salvadore, Jr. “Sammy”, Alvin and John Roland Marchese. Brother-in-law of Nola Marchese and Donald Laughlin. Uncle of Pamela M. Philastre, Melissa Marchese-Smith, Sammy Marchese, III, Meeka M. Cheramie, Larry Laughlin, Jackie L. Strader, Scott Laughlin and the late Darlene Matherne and beloved great-uncle of their children. He was affectionately known as “Unka Nawnie” and “J.J.” by many. Age, 82 years. A native and lifelong resident of Gretna, LA. Mr. Marchese was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving on the U.S.S. Los Angeles during the Korean War. He was a graduate of Gretna High School and received his Mechanical Engineering degree from LSU. He was also a 1973 graduate of Harvard University in Business Management. Johnny retired from Louisiana Gas Service in 1995 having served 35 years. He was also on the board of directors for Timberlane Country Club, past president of the Lions Club, past president of Industrial Management Club of Greater New Orleans, affiliated with the Knights of Columbus, the VFW and the American Legion.
Relatives and friends of the family also members of the above named organizations are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Joseph Church, 6th St. Gretna, LA on Friday, May 2, 2014 at 10 AM. Interment, Hook and Ladder Cemetery, Gretna, LA. Parlors will be open at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expy., Harvey, LA on Thursday, May 1, 2014 from 6 PM until 10 PM and again Friday from 8 AM until 9:30 AM.
