John Francis Murphy, Jr.

John Francis Murphy, Jr. passed away on May 10, 2015 at the age of 83 years. Beloved husband of 59 years to Helen Joy Trosclair Murphy. Father of Jennifer M. Winters (Robert), Timothy M. Murphy (Guyann), Vicki M. Boyd (Laurance), the late Karen Lynn Murphy and John Kevin Murphy. Grandfather of Christopher Brown, Jimmy Brown, Ann Marie Murphy, L. Murphy Boyd and Laura Boyd. Son of the late Jeanette Etta Dennis Murphy and John Francis Murphy, Sr. Brother of the late Patricia Murphy Delaney. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
John graduated from Behrman High School and began, what was to be, his career with Louisiana Power & Light/Entergy. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He returned to LP & L and attended Our Lady of Holy Cross College at night and earned his BA in Liberal Arts. John later retired from LP & L after 38 years of dedicated service. He was a lifelong resident of the Westbank and a parishioner of Holy Name of Mary Church in Algiers. In lieu of flowers, MASSES PREFERRED.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Holy Name of Mary Church in Algiers on Thursday, May 14, 2015 from 9 AM to 11 AM. A Funeral Mass will follow. Interment McDonogh Cemetery in Gretna.
