John Alan Panepinto, Sr.

August 11, 1953 — April 4, 2025

John Alan Panepinto, Sr., age 71, passed away on April 4, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 11, 1953, in New Orleans; a son to the late Frank Sr. and Helen Panepinto; and brother to Frank Jr. (Gail) and Blaine Panepinto.

John graduated from Archbishop Shaw High School in 1973 and was a dedicated employee at Scott Armature for 40 years.

He met Dianna St. Germain in 1977; they married after three months and later had three children, John, Jr., (Bonnie), Alan (Shanna), and Helen (Kevin Lew). John was the proud PawPaw of ten grandchildren –Emree, Haven, Lyrik, Skye, Laiden, Kolton, Kambre, Alyssa, Gabe, and Gavin.

Known for his loving, goofy spirit – John demonstrated his selflessness, dependability, and unmatched work ethic each day – whether through cheering on his grandchildren at countless sporting events, helping a friend or neighbor with their latest project, or causing a laugh when you needed it most, he lived his life with both intention and heart.

When he wasn’t helping others or preparing for his next camping trip, you would find John busting a move on the dance floor, riding his motorcycle, or watching cartoons with his grandchildren (and by himself, too). And if you ever felt a chill down your spine, there’s a good chance he was sneaking up behind you – one of his favorite pastimes was scaring the people he loved, just to get a laugh.

John was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Blaine; mother-in-law, Mary; and grandson, Lyrik. Leaving to cherish his memory his wife, Dianna; brother; three children; nine grandchildren; aunts, Mary Zeringue and Linda B. Smith; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will miss his comfort, contagious laughter, and spontaneous dance moves.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, April 13th at 1:30p.m. at Celebration Church Westbank, located at 5058 Lapalco Blvd in Marrero. Burial services will be held for immediate family members at a later date.
