John Clifton Revels, “Cliff”, of New Orleans, passed away peacefully, at home, on August 14 under the loving care of Gloria Catchings, at the age of 98. Born in Pinemount Florida, November 23, 1915, he proudly served as an officer in the United States Coast Guard for 31 years. Military duties moved the young family from Florida to Washington D.C., North Carolina, New York, Hawaii, and lastly New Orleans in 1965. He was a Blue Lodge Mason for over 60 years. Cliff also was a very active member of the Algiers Kiwanis since 1974. Golf was his passion and he played regularly until his early 90s after that, the Golf channel kept him involved on a daily basis. He had many, many talents. No task was too much for him when it came to restorations, renovation, and gardening. He was preceded in death by Helen Frances Turlington Revels, his first wife and mother of his children. His second wife, Molly, beside whom he will be interred in Whitesboro, Texas, also preceded him in death. He is survived by his daughters, Victoria Revels Restovic (Sime) and Heidi Revels (Linda Smith) and his son, Keith Revels (Susan) and stepdaughters Melinda Taylor (Tom) and Carol Foster (Bob). Grandchildren he leaves behind are Eric Revels (Stephanie), Alec Revels, Jelena Restovic James (Francis), Miranda Restovic (Ronald Markham), Scotty Foster, Nicholas Foster, Christa Nafstad (Karl) and Bret Boyd. To add to the list of those who will miss Grandpa are the great grandchildren, Serena Revels, Johnny Revels, Ronald Markham III, Ethan Markham, Fleming James, Grace James, Ily Boyd , Aurora Nafstad, Katja Nafstad, Aksel Nafstad and the late Halo Boyd. Visitation will be at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 1300 Vallette Street, Algiers, LA on Wednesday August 20th from 6pm until 8pm. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Thursday, August 21st from 10am until funeral services, which will begin at 11am. Interment will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Whitesboro, TX.
