John "J.F." Thompson

September 24, 1941 — January 15, 2016

John F. "J.F." Thompson, a devout Catholic, entered into eternal life on Friday, January 15, 2016. Cherished husband and best friend of Mary Paternostro Thompson. Beloved father of Alice Michelle Thompson and John Charles Thompson. Loving brother-in-law of Cathy and Bill Serex, Michael and Pearl Paternostro, and Judy and Vincent Baldassaro, and special uncle of nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, John Lynn and Dorothy Kraft Thompson of New Albany, Indiana. Parishioner of Immaculate Conception Jesuit Church in New Orleans, serving in many ministries, including President of the Parish Council and the St. Matthew Guild. J.F.'s passion was always in serving and helping others, devoting his time volunteering and serving as a Board member of the Harry Tompson Center. For his service at the center, he was presented the Legatus Christi Award and the Homines Pro Aliis (People for Others) Award. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Thursday, January 21, 2016, at 10am at Immaculate Conception Jesuit Church, 130 Baronne St., New Orleans, LA. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening, January 20, 2016 from 6pm until 9pm at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expwy., Harvey, LA and again on Thursday morning from 9am until 10am at Immaculate Conception Jesuit Church. Interment Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Masses and donations to the Harry Tompson Center preferred. Family and friends may view and sign the online guest book at www.mothefunerals.com .
