Johnie Charles Cooper passed away Saturday, May 14, 2016, at the age of 75. He was born in Morgantown, MS. He was a resident of Marrero, LA for the past 40 years by way of Algiers and Gretna. Devoted husband of 54 years to Marguerite Roppolo Cooper. Loving father of Karen Cooper North (David) and David John Cooper (Julie). Son of the late Charles Toxie Cooper and Maxie Hammond Cooper. Grandfather of Kacie North Adams (Doug), Jason North, Jacob Cooper, Peyton Cooper and Mason Cooper. Great grandfather of Travis, Ryder and Chase Adams. Brother of Hilda Cooper Ratliff (Hulon), the late Glenn Larue Cooper (Millie) and Thais Michael Cooper (Betty). Brother in law of Nicholas Roppolo (Joanne), Paula Roppolo Tamborella (Glynn) and Paul Roppolo, Jr. (Mary). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Johnie's passion was fishing with his lifelong friend, Yates Stevens. If it was the weekend, at least 50 degrees and the sun was shining, you would find him in Lafitte fishing the Texaco canals. Johnie was famous for two sayings, "It's always something and it never stops" and when you asked how he was doing, he always answered, "Fair to Midland". He retired with 40 years of service from LP&L/Entergy.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expy., Harvey, LA on Thursday, May 19, 2016 from 9 AM to 1:30 PM. Services will follow in the funeral home chapel. Interment Westlawn Memorial Park, 1225 Whitney Avenue in Gretna.
