John W. “Big John” “Papa John” Zahn, Sr. entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at the age of 74. Beloved husband of 9 years to Virginia B. Zahn by second marriage and the late Marilyn C. Zahn by first marriage. Son of the late Henry W. Zahn, Sr. and Elizabeth Zahn. Father of Melinda Z. Eilers (Husband, David), John W. Zahn, Jr. (Companion, Ann), Lisa Z. Adams (Husband, the late Jeffery), Deirdre Z. Percle (Husband, Adler) and Kimberly M. LeBlanc. Survived by 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by 1 grandchild. Brother of Henry Zahn, Jr., Dorothy Henniger and the late Earl Zahn. Special friend of Bobby and Monica Williams. He will be dearly missed by his dogs Benny and Molly. He was born in New Orleans, LA and was a resident of Avondale, LA. “Big John” was a maintenance mechanic at Avondale Shipyards until his retirement. After his retirement, he worked part-time for C & V Enterprises as a maintenance mechanic for local gas stations. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Serenity Hospice and ICU Staff at West Jefferson Medical Center for their love and care. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, LA on Saturday, February 16, 2013 from 10AM until 1PM. A Memorial Mass will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 1PM. Interment will be held at a later date.
