Jonas Joseph Robertson

Jonas Joseph Robertson, born on September 24, 1955, in New Orleans, LA, entered into Heaven’s gates on October 20, 2024, at the age of 69. A resident of Gretna, LA. Jonas was the beloved Pastor of The Church of Abundant Life in Harvey, where he served faithfully for over 40 years.

Jonas was radically saved at the age of 19, dedicating his life to the service of Jesus Christ and his community. He was a guiding light to many, offering spiritual counsel and support to all who knew him. Jonas often said his greatest testimony was leading his 3 brothers, 2 sisters, parents and dear friends to the Lord. He graduated from International Bible College in San Antonio, Texas, and began his service unto the Lord. He was an avid Saints fan who could command any room with his booming voice and great sense of humor. His memorable stories and infectious personality will be greatly missed from all who knew him.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Ruth Fix Robertson and by his loving children, Lori Fox (Sean) and Jordan Robertson. Jonas was also a devoted grandfather to his cherished grandchildren: Allison, Emily, Sydney, Faith, Jakob, Grace, and Claira. He is also survived by his siblings Mary Perkins (Kermit), Cheryl Trosclair, Gerard Robertson (Tracy), Paul Robertson (Christine). He was preceded in death by his father, Jonas Henry Robertson, his mother, Fern Sensat Robertson, his brother, Stephen Robertson (Diane), his brother-in-law Darryl Trosclair, and his beloved son, Jamin Robertson (Melissa).

Please join us in celebrating his life. Funeral services will be held at The Church of Abundant Life, located at 2301 Par 3 Drive, Harvey, LA, 70058, on October 28, 2024. A viewing will take place at 9:00 AM, with services to follow at 11:30 AM. Graveside services and interment will take place immediately afterward at Westlawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Church of Abundant Life in honor of Pastor Jonas' memory.
