Joni Labauve Colvin

Joni LaBauve Colvin passed away in her home in Gretna, LA surrounded by her loved ones on December 17th 2022 after courageously fighting cancer for several years. Joni was born in New Orleans on August 7th, 1953 to the late Clarence Anthony LaBauve and the late Rosemary LeBlanc LaBauve. Joni was married to her soul mate David L. Colvin for 44 years. Joni was the loving mother of Rachel Bargas (Casey), Rebecca Colvin, Lauren Chase (David); grandmother of Ameila Bargas, Grace Bargas, Penelope Bargas, David Chase III (Tripp); sister of Kim A. LaBauve (Melinda) and Lisa L. Boudreaux (Mark). She is survived by a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbors who are like family. Joni graduated from the Touro School of Nursing in 1978 wherein she received an associates in nursing and later received a bachelor of science in nursing from Loyola School of Nursing. She started her career at Touro Hospital then worked as a school nurse for Jefferson Parish and Sacred Heart Academy. In her spare time she enjoyed learning French, taking art classes, and traveling. She enjoyed spending time with family, especially her precious grand-babies. She was a master gardener at City Park and passionate about horticulture. She was extremely spiritual and a devout Catholic. Special thanks to Notre Dame Hospice, especially Ms. Deb and Mālindann who provided excellent care. Thanks to all of her warrior friends who supported and encouraged her on her journey while she battled cancer.
Relatives and Friends of the Family are invited to attend the Memorial Visitation and Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Gretna, LA on Thursday, December 22, 2022 from 9 AM until Mass time at 11 AM. Interment Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA. Mothe Funeral Homes handled arrangements.
