Jose Euclides Gonzalez, Sr.
August 7, 1934 — May 10, 2016
Jose Euclides Gonzalez Sr. passed away on May 10, 2016 at the age of 81 years. Beloved husband of Maria Barragan Gonzalez. Father of Ana Gonzalez and Jose Gonzalez Jr. Grandfather of Liana, Tyler, Giselle and Jacob. Brother of Aura Zapata. Uncle of Maria del Socorro Gonzalez and Omar Zapata. Also survived by other loving relatives and friends in his native Colombia.
Jose was a native of Cachira, Colombia, S.A. and attended Escuela Naval de Colombia, the Naval Academy in Colombia. He later served in the Colombian Navy achieving the rank of Frigate Lieutenant. He came to the United States in the 1960’s and settled in the New Orleans area. After graduating from both Tulane University in Naval Engineering and Delgado College, he worked for Avondale Shipyard (Northrup Grumman) as a draftsman and designer. He retired after 12 years of dedicated service. He was deeply loved and will be sadly missed. “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.” Psalm 116:15.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOMES, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, LA on Friday, May 13, 2016 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM, followed by services. Interment Westlawn Memorial Park.
