Joseph Guidry

Joseph Guidry, Sr. passed away on August 7, 2011 at the age of 84 years. Beloved husband of 64 years to Kate Deaton Guidry. Father of Joseph Guidry, Jr. (Joan), Cyleria G. Gerrets (Michael), Lillian Guidry (Richard M. Davis, Sr.) and the late Jules S. Guidry. Survived by 7 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 6 step-great-grandchildren, 1 step-great-great-grandchild, 1 expectant great-great-grandchild and 1 expectant step-great-great-grandchild. Son of the late Lillian Berthelot Guidry and Horace Guidry. Mr. Guidry is a U.S. Navy veteran who served his country during World War II and the Korean War. He retired from the Electric Delivery System, was a member of the Teamsters Union Local No. 270, John McDonogh V.F.W. Post No. 3121, V.F.W. Department of Louisiana (past State Commander), American Legion Post No. 64, St. Cletus Catholic Church, St. Cletus Knights of Columbus Council No. 8615, Santa Maria Knights of Columbus Council No. 1724, Very Rev. T.J. Larkin Assembly Fourth Degree K of C, Order of Alhambra Caravan No. 65 and the Military Order of the Cooties, Pup Tent No. 7 (past Supreme 6th District Commander). Relatives and Friends are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOMES, L.L.C., 2100 Westbank Expy., Harvey, LA on Thursday, August 11, 2011 from 6 PM to 10 PM and will resume on Friday from 8 AM until 10:30 AM. A Funeral Mass will follow at St. Cletus Catholic Church, 3600 Claire Ave., Gretna for 11 AM. Interment will take place at Greenwood Cemetery in New Orleans.
