Joseph "Joe" L. Hebert Jr.

February 6, 1944 — April 4, 2014

Joseph L. Hebert, Jr., age 70, passed away on April 4, 2014 at his new home in Ponchatoula, LA. He was a prior resident of Waggaman, LA for the past 49 years and was raised in Westwego, LA. The days and months leading up to this day, his loving family surrounded him. Joseph “Joe” is survived by his loving wife of almost 50 years, Rhetta Dupre Hebert. Proud father of his daughter, Lori Hebert Levy (Danny) of Luling, LA, his son, Jaye Hebert, Sr. (Karen) of Thibodaux; and his daughter, Jodi Hebert Bordelon (Riley Jr.) of Ponchatoula. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph “Pete” Hebert, Sr. and his mother Bernice “Mammy” Dominique Hebert Seeber; his father-in-law, Dennis Dupre and mother-in-law, Elma Robichaux Dupre. He is also survived by his sister, Janet Hebert Lee (Scooter, who was his best friend for 54 years); his sister, Suzanne Hebert Craven (Bobby) and his brother, Randy Hebert. He was a much loved Grandfather of Jaye Hebert, Jr., Lance Glaviana (Jenny), Tiffany Glaviana, Jessica Hebert LaCaze, Riley Bordelon, III (Sara), Ian Blackard, Raylyn Bordelon, Trey Levy and Victoria Levy. Great Grandfather of 11 beautiful great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, godchildren and many many great friends. Special best friends for many years are Betty and Terry Dufrene. Joseph was once an active and loving member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Waggaman, LA. He was on the planning committee for their present church, on the Pastoral Council, a fair/festival director, an usher, a Eucharistic Minister and anything else they needed him to be. He was a proud recipient of the Order of the St. Louis Medallion in 1978 representing Our Lady of the Angels. Much thanks to Belle Oaks Adult Care Center for welcoming him into their arms. He had many good times there. Special thanks to Generations Hospice for the love, warmth and excellent care. We could not have made it through the last 3 or 4 months without you. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Alzheimer's Research in memory of Joe. A visitation will be held at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, LA on Friday, April 11, 2014 from 6:30PM until 11PM. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Saturday, April 12, 2014 from 8AM until 11:30AM. A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, River Road, Waggaman, LA on Saturday at 12 Noon. Interment will be held at Holy Angels Mausoleum, Waggaman, LA.
