Joseph “Joe” Bourgeois, Sr. age 90 of Marrero, Louisiana went to his eternal resting place on Wednesday, February, 15, 2023. He was surrounded by his loving family. Joe was born on February 14, 1933, in Cutoff, Louisiana and lived in Marrero, Louisiana for the past 45 years. Joe is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Norma Bourgeois. He leaves two loving daughters, Melanie A. Bourgeois and Dana A. Cazabon (Ronnie); his loving stepchildren, Naomi Miller (Michael), Natalie Cambre and L.J. Raffray (Wendy); loving Paw Paw to Anthony “Toney” Persica (Alana), Lauren Bray (Clifton), Christine Bourgeois (Kaitlyn), Brandon Cambre (Wendy), Zoe and Corinne Cazabon, Stephanie O'Connor (Sean), Keilah Johnson (Matt), Sierra Jordan (Lance), Adam and Blue Raffray, Jayla Miller and Sarah Lewis (A.J.) He is the Great Grandfather to 15 ½ Great Grandchildren with Sierra and Lance expecting his 16th; two brothers, Mervin Bourgeois, Sr. and Sheldon Bourgeois (Kathy); numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and many loyal friends as well as his beloved canine companions, Peppy and Lilly Belle. Joe is preceded in death by his son, Joseph “Joey” Bourgeois, Jr.; his parents, John Antoine Bourgeois, Sr. and Lucille Orgeron Bourgeois; his sisters, Emelda Rivero, Ella Mae Freeman, Barbara Ann Landry, and infant brother, John Antoine Bourgeois, Jr. Joe worked his way from delivering milk to Distribution Manager during his 55 years at Barbe's Dairy. He is a Veteran of the U.S.M.C. in which he fought in the Korean War and is also a life member of the V.F.W. He enjoyed dancing, bowling, gardening, cruising, cooking and spending time with family and friends. He was an avid LSU and New Orleans Saints fan. Joe, above all, loved God and his country. The family would like to thank Passages Hospice for their excellent and compassionate care. Special thanks to Anthony, Star, Angel and Kimberly. They quickly become dear and loving friends to Mr. Joe and his family. We are forever grateful for their kindness. Special thanks to his nephew, Scott, for helping make his last days at home comfortable. Family, friends, former Barbe's Dairy employees, Westside Bowling friends, friends at LCMC Health and Northlake Automotive are invited to attend the Visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, Louisiana on Friday, February 24, 2023 from 6PM until 10PM. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Saturday morning, February 25, 2023 from 9AM until 1:30PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME on Saturday at 1:30PM. Interment will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, Louisiana. Family and friends may offer condolences at mothefunerals.com.
