Joseph Macera, Sr.

Joseph Macera, Sr. entered into eternal rest on Monday, June 17, 2013 at the age of 82. Beloved husband of the late Margaret Pepitone Macera. Father of Brenda M. Lawson (Arthur), Joseph Macera, Jr. (Carol), Janice M. Chiasson (Keith) and Troy C. Macera, Sr. (Monica). Son of the late Lucy Ribaul Macera and Frank Macera. Brother of Basile and Frank Macera, Mary Grace Orsag and the late Thomas Macera, John Macera and Rose Macera Sloan. Grandfather of Brett Joseph Lawson (Colleen), Keith Chiasson, Jr. (Brittany), Kaci Margaret Chiasson, Candice, Nicholas and Madeline Macera, Troy Jr., Andrew, Brittany, Mary, Austin, Christopher, Kimberly, Adam Macera and the late Arthur S. Lawson, III (Survived by Megan). Joseph was a lifelong resident of Gretna, LA. He was a retired Colonel with Gretna Police Department after serving over 30 years. He served as first K-9 Officer for City of Gretna Police Department. Joseph served his country in the United States Army. He also retired with Jefferson Parish School Board. Joseph was owner of LA Speedway 500, Colonial Builders and American Ambulance Service. He was a parishioner of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Gretna. A visitation will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Burmaster and Franklin Avenue, Gretna, LA on Thursday, June 20, 2013 from 10AM until 1PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church on Thursday at 1PM. Interment will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA. In lieu of flowers, Masses preferred.
