Joseph Emile Marshall, Jr., age 65, passed away at home on Thursday, April 4, 2024. A personality that was larger than life, Joe’s departure leaves an enduring mark on the hearts of those who loved him.
Born on February 5, 1959 to the late Joseph Emile Marshall, Sr. and the late Dorothy Woods Marshall, Joe was born in New Orleans and was raised in Avondale. Joe graduated from Archbishop Shaw High School in 1978. He married his high school sweetheart, Lisa Martinez the same year. They lived and raised their family in Terrytown, then Gretna. Joe and Lisa welcomed their first born Jamie in 1979, then Joseph III in 1982 to their family.
Joe and Lisa were blessed to build their castle on the Stonebridge Golf Course and their beloved “camp” in Bay St. Louis where the camp weathered Katrina. Joe was always happiest surrounded by family and friends. Whether grilling, boiling crawfish or playing cards, everyone was welcome at his home.
Joe was the owner of Delta Coatings, Inc. and Delta Scaffolding, Inc. He built Delta Coatings into a thriving family business that will be celebrating their 50th anniversary next year. Joe was a member of Christ the King Church in Terrytown for many years. He was always lending a hand and helping others, whether bringing food to the sick, feeding the crew at work, giving money to those in need or socializing with friends – Joe was a prince among men. Joe’s greatest treasure was the love he had for his wife, children and especially his grandchildren.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Emile Marshall, Sr. and Dorothy Woods Marshall. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Lisa Martinez Marshall, his daughter Jamie Marshall Rabalais, husband Jason and his son Joseph Marshall III, wife Holly. He was also the beloved Bop-Bop to his grandchildren, Mia Rabalais and Jace Rabalais. Joe is also survived by his brothers, George Marshall (Beth), Gary Marshall (Kelly), his sister Sherry Nobles (Johnny), his mother-in-law Marilyn Martinez (late Ben Martinez), his sister-in-law Christie Susslin (William), and his brother-in-law William Martinez (Lisa) along with many, many other family and friends. If you knew Joe Marshall, you were his friend.
