Joseph B. Sunseri, Sr., lifelong resident of the West Bank was called to his Heavenly Home on Friday, February 26, 2016 at the age of 102. Mr. Sunseri operated Sunseri’s Pharmacy from 1938 until 1983 in Algiers, LA. He is a lifelong member of Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church and the West Bank. He served in World War II in the United States Navy as Pharmacist Mate 1st Class and was Honorably Discharged as Chief Pharmacist Mate. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus #1724 and American Legion #518. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mercedes Ridge Sunseri; his parents, Mamie LaCava Sunseri and Philip Diego Sunseri; his siblings, Philip Sunseri, Salvador Sunseri, Vivian Sunseri, Josephine Sunseri and Catherine Sunseri Lore. Mr. Sunseri is survived by his children, Pamela Sunseri Ward and her husband Butch Ward, Joseph B. Sunseri, Jr. and his wife Betty Sunseri, and Carlton Philip Sunseri and his wife Joan Sunseri; his Grandchildren, Jerard Ward, Elizabeth Ward Wilke, Jason Ward, Justin and Christopher Sunseri, Jennifer Sunseri and the late Jonathan Sunseri; his Great Grandchildren, Joseph and William Campbell, Thomas and William A. Ward, Olivia, Holden Ward and Clara Beth Wilke. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church in memory of Mr. Sunseri. Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church, 400 Eliza Street, Algiers, LA on Saturday, March 5, 2016 from 10:30AM until 1PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church on Saturday at 1PM. Interment will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA. MOTHE FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements.
