Josephine “Josie” Saragusa Celino passed away on Monday, August 20, 2012. Born November 11, 1917. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Saragusa and Rosalie Chirchirello Saragusa. Beloved wife of the late Anthony J. Celino, Sr. for 58 years. Mother of Dr. Anthony J. Celino, Jr. (wife Marcy Coate), Kenneth G. Celino (wife Pat LeBoeuf), and the late Gerald J. Celino (wife Judy Coulon). She is preceded in death by her brothers Carlo Saragusa, Dominick Saragusa, Roy Saragusa, Jack Saragusa, Sam Saragusa and her sisters Angelina Este, Mary Guccione, Marie Duhe’ and Francis Boudreaux. Grandmother of Gregg Celino (Carole), Darin Celino, Dr. Jon Celino (Kami), Scott Celino (Sheila), Christie Celino Raia (Randy), Jason Celino (Stacie), Dr. Amy Celino Beam (Travis). Great grandmother of Dillon Celino, Lindsay Celino Haley (Paul), Lauren Celino, Natalie Raia, Austin Celino, Nicholas Raia, Jaycie Celino, Elise Celino, Avery Beam and Brody Celino. Also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. Josie was born in Independence, LA and grew up in Reserve, LA where she graduated from Leon Godchaux High School. She was a resident of Westwego, LA for the past 70 years. She had a passion for gardening, cooking and enjoying her family and friends. She had many friends since she loved people. She was a member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church, the Waggaman Golden Agers, Westwego Knights of Columbus Post 3091 Auxiliary and the Westwego Am Vets Post 38 Auxiliary. Josie was a very independent person and she was so very grateful for all of her family and friends who stepped up and helped her during her time of need. A sincere thank you from the family is extended to the staff at Wynhoven Health Care Center and to Notre Dame Hospices for their great care during her stay. Relatives and Friends of the Family are invited to attend the Visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, LA on Friday, August 24, 2012 from 6 PM until 9PM and on Saturday from 8AM until funeral time. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at 11 AM. Interment will be in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Gate of Heaven Mausoleum, Westwego, LA.
