Josephine Barcelona Parfait age 74 of Marrero went home peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on September 11, 2015 after a courageous 2 year battle with cancer. A treasure in life, Josie, as everyone knew her, considered her most important job as being a wife, mother and maw maw. Josephine will be missed dearly by her husband of 58 years, Jerry Phillip Parfait. She is the daughter of the late Antonino Barcelona and Maria Falcone Barcelona. Sister of Virginia Barcelona Abadie (Husband Douglas Abadie), Salvadore Barcelona (Wife Christine S. Barcelona), the late Antonino Barcelona (Wife, the late Lucia Barcelona) and the late Rosalie Barcelona Jasper. Loving and devoted mother of Pam Parfait Street (Husband Cliff Street), Melinda Parfait Boudreaux (Husband Ray Boudreaux, Jr.), Wendy Parfait Diodene (Husband John Diodene, Jr.) and the late Mary Parfait and Connie Parfait. Beloved “maw maw” of Clif Street, Jr. (Wife Kelly C. Street), Jerry Street, Raymond Boudreaux, III (Wife Natalie F. Boudreaux), Chasse Boudreaux, Brittany Diodene and Austin Diodene. Great Grandmother of Olivia Street and Cole Street. Josephine was born in Alia in Palermo, Sicily and was a resident of Marrero, LA. She worked at International Harvester and Southern Shell Seafood Company. She was a member of the Bunco Club for 23 years, belonged to the Faithful Bowling League and Swingers League. Josie was well known for her wonderful Sicilian cooking and sharing her famous Italian cookies with her family and friends. Her hobbies included bowling, buncos and traveling. She will be loved and missed dearly by all. Friends and family are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, LA on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 from 9AM until 1PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 1PM. Interment will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA.
