Josephine Mary Colombo Kass

Josephine Mary Colombo Kass, age 83, a native of New Orleans and Gretna resident, passed away on Monday, June 18, 2012. Beloved wife for 51 years of the late Joseph Mitchell Kass, Sr. Loving mother of John (Carmen), Joseph, Jr. (Lynnora), Salvadore (Mary), Marlene White (Ed), Lucy Box (Cal), Jenny Doskey (Alex) and the late Ronald Kass, Sr. Daughter of the late John Colombo and Josephine Centineo Colombo. Sister of the late Rosemary Colombo Winkler and the late Angelina Colombo Tennyson. Grandmother of Frenise and Melanie Kass, Michelle Lanza, JoLynn Marcel, Kurt Viola, Erika White Jones, Edward White, III, Erin White, Ryan, Amanda and Jason Kass, Stephanie and Ronald Kass, Jr., Matthew Roppolo, Ian, Rose and Quinn Doskey and the late Paull Viola. Great Grandmother of Angelina Lanza, Gage Alexander, Darren and Destiny Marcel, Leah and Isaiah White, Rosalyn and Annabelle Kass, and Landon and Elliana Kass. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Special lifelong friend of Marie Murphy and Father Larry Hecker. A Special light in her life Tiffany Cannon, whom was like a daughter to her. She was a parishioner of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Gretna and a dedicated member of the St. Anthony’s Ladies Club. She also participated in the Gretna Historical Society, German Heritage Cultural Society of Louisiana and the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary Post Number 64. Many thanks to the physicians of East Jefferson General Hospital, as well as the nurses and staff of St. Theresa Specialty Hospital for their loving care over the past two months. A Celebration of her Life will take place at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, Louisiana on Thursday, June 21, 2012 from 6PM until 10PM and on Friday, June 22, 2012 from 8:30AM until 10:30AM. A Funeral Mass will follow at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Franklin and Burmaster Streets, Gretna, LA on Friday at 11AM. Interment will be in McDonogh Cemetery, Gretna, LA.
