Josette Oury Maquar

Josette Oury Maquar passed away on August 17, 2016 at the age of 94 years. Beloved wife of the late Charles Leo Maquar. Mother of Linda Wooley, Charles Maquar (the late Katy) and the late Danny Maquar. Grandmother of Alan, Danny, Michael, Evelyn, Dana and the late Christopher. Great-grandmother of Destiny, Lisa, Nathan, Caleb, Ashyr, Octavia, Carlisha and C.J. Sister of Yolande (the late Henri), the late Gerard (Denese) and Robert. Daughter of the late Yvonne and Marcel Oury. Also survived by other loving relatives and friends.
She served as a Lieutenant in the French Red Cross Army during World War II. After her capture by the German Army, she escaped, aided by her beloved Charles and was later married for 31 years until his death in 1976. Later in life, she was a talented seamstress and crafted gowns and costumes for several Mardi Gras Krewes including Rex, Carrollton and Isis. She touched the lives of so many and will be sadly missed.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOMES, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, LA on Sunday, August 28, 2016 from 12 Noon to 2 PM. A Memorial Service will follow.
