Joy Ann Tierney Richard

Joy Ann Tierney Richard, 82, was reunited with her beloved husband of 35 years, Charles Glen Richard, Sr. in Heavenly Paradise on Friday, December 22, 2023. Devoted Mom to Tammy Richard Kass (the late Ronald, Sr.), Charles Glen Richard, Jr. (Anita), Shawn Michael Richard (Arlette), George Anthony Richard (Dawn) and the late Allison Theresa Richard. Loving Granny to Stephanie Ann Kass, Ronald Michael Kass, Jr. (Mindy), James Maher Richard, Evan Corbett Richard, Caden Corbin Richard, and Shane Anthony Richard (Lauren). GG to Landon Michael Kass, Elliana Claire Kass, Aden James Richard and Stiles Anthony Richard. Beloved sister to Joycelyn “Tee” Tierney Albert and the late Herman “Mickey” Gilbert. Daughter of the late George Anthony Tierney and the late Imogene Goodwyne Tierney.  Survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.

Joy loved being surrounded by her family and friends. Most days you would find her on her swing, sipping on lemonade “watching the neighborhood”, or watching one of her favorite tv shows – likely Cops or Walker Texas Ranger. She loved attending church as often as she could. She was known as Sister Mary Ann as a member of the Third Order of Mary. Joy was a lifelong resident of Algiers, LA. She was loved by everyone who met her.

Joy will be laid to rest next to her love on Friday, January 5, 2024. Visitation will be held from 9-11am at Saint Andrew the Apostle, 3101 Eton St. New Orleans, LA 70131. Mass will begin at 11am. Interment will be at Westlawn Memorial Park, 1225 Whitney Ave Gretna, LA 70056.
