Joyclen Schaubhut Bourgeois, a lifelong resident of Algiers, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2024 at the age of 89. Beloved wife of the late Hendrix “Eppie” Bourgeois Jr. Loving mother of Andre Paul Bourgeois and GiGi Paulette Bourgeois (Joe Calatayud). Grandmother of Adelaide Calatayud and the late Aidan Calatayud. Sister of Huey Peter Schaubhut (Florence) and Cynthia EdMae Schaubhut, the late Andrew Paul Schaubhut Jr., Karl James Schaubhut, and Alton Joseph Schaubhut Sr. Daughter of the late Sidonia Fabre Schaubhut and Andrew P. Schaubhut. Also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Joyclen graduated from Martin Behrman High School and attended Spencer Business College. She worked for LP & L (Louisiana Power & Light) and later for Chevron USA Production Company, retiring after 16 years of service. A devoted wife, mom, and grandmother, she was a talented seamstress, enjoyed crocheting and working word puzzles. A devout Catholic, she was an active member of Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church. She will be sadly missed.
The family would like to express their gratitude to her caregiver, Linda Johnson and the staff of Heart of Hospice for their care and compassion during this difficult time.
A visitation will be held at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church in Algiers on Saturday, April 20, 2024 from 9am to 11am. A Funeral Mass will follow. Interment Westlawn Memorial Park in Gretna.
