Juanita Gonzales Strander, age 99, passed away on October 26, 2014 at St. Luke’s Living Center in Algiers, LA. Mrs. Strander was born in Grand Isle, LA and has been a resident of Jefferson Parish for all of her life. Daughter of the late Emma and Valentine Gonzales. Loving wife of the late Knute Strander, Sr. Sister of the late Marina Comeaux (Louis), Aenida “Zas” Fortmeyer (Teddy), Norma Gegenheimer (Stan), and Almon Gonzales (Marie). Loving mother of three sons, Bertil Strander, Sr. (Linda), Eric Strander (Donna), and Knute Strander, Jr. (Pam). Grandmother to Corey (Sabrina), Blaine (Jymme), Robin, Bertil, Jr., Kyle (Lynn), Quinn (Renee) and Casey Strander. Great Grandmother to Blake, Devin, Gabrielle, Shane, Logan, Quinn, Jr., Jackson, Abbey, Annie, Kyle, Jr. and Sophia Strander. Mrs. Strander and her sister, Zas, were known as the Boomer Girls as they were the face on billboards and Television commercials for several years. Family and Friends and the caring staff at St. Luke’s Medical will miss her. The Strander Family would like to thank the Staff at St. Luke’s for their wonderful care of Mrs. Strander and to Mrs. Josie Horn, her roommate. Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA on Thursday, October 30, 2014 from 9AM until 1PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 1PM. Interment will be in Hook and Ladder Cemetery, Gretna, LA.
