Judith (Judy) Ann Dimatteo

April 19, 1955 — November 2, 2022

Some people only walk this earth for a short time. Their departure reminds us that angels are watching over us. On November 2, 2022, Judith (Judy) Ann DiMatteo Motto got her wings and went to walk in heaven with her special angel, Sherrie Vice (daughter), and all the other angels. Judy was a long-time resident of Waggaman, Louisiana where she spent most of her glory years with her children, Sherrie, Stephanie, and Josh, and her then husband, David Motto.

Although Judy’s health was failing for years, few people knew the extent to which she struggled. Judy passed away peacefully at age 67 after a long battle with Alzheimers.

When Judy’s children were young, the phrase “stay-at-home-mom” didn’t exist. It was unusual for women to stay home with the children while their husbands worked. But even by the standards of the era, Judy was an exceptional wife and mother. She cared deeply for her family and neighbors. She did this not out of obligation, but because of who she was. She was always the first to offer help. She was more than happy to be the central figure in the lives of her children and grandchildren. Anyone who knew them knew that she was a star in their eyes, and that’s all that ever mattered to her. Judy had a passion for dancing, singing, elephants with their trunks up, cooking, and painting. Judy had a laugh that couldn’t be forgotten.

Judy is survived by her daughter Stephanie Gauthier (Josh), her son Josh Motto, her ex-husband, David Motto (Barbara), and three grandchildren, Joshlyn, Logan, and Coby, she was predeceased by her daughter, Sherrie Vice.
Daughter of the late Rita May Cordilla DiMatteo and Henry DiMatteo. Sister of Lena Firmin, Janet Treadaway, Cathy Eisenman, Rita Wolff, Sidney Poupart, Tammy McNeill, John DiMatteo and the late Servero DiMatteo, Linda Aertker, and Raymond Millet.
