Judy Bouvier Dufrene

November 1, 1938 — January 15, 2023

Judy Bouvier Dufrene born November 1, 1938 passed peacefully on January 15, 2023; with her family at her side. She is survived by her children Denise Dufrene Guillet (Michael), Rene Dufrene (Carolyn), and Peter Dufrene (Lisa), and grandchildren Chad, Jamie, Christopher, Henry, Georgia and Adeline, sister Jane Bouvier Thieler, brother Coral Bouvier (Emelda), and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years Wilton J. Dufrene, parents Manton “Fox” and Shirley Guidry Bouvier, and sister Pamela Bouvier. Judy was a member of the first graduating class of West Jefferson High School in 1957, and was married at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church in Westwego on October 13, 1959. She and Wilton lived in Paris, France while he was enlisted in the military and assigned to S.H.A.P.E. They returned home in 1962 to start a family and in 1967 established Dufrene Surveying and Engineering. Judy was a voracious reader, connoisseur of classic movies, quick witted and generous to a fault. It was virtually impossible to leave her house without a bag of goodies and gifts. She was fiercely devoted to her family and close friends. She and her husband were generous supporters of numerous charities including St. Martha’s Church, and was awarded St. Louis IX Medallion for lay person service to the Catholic Church. Cheers to you for a life well lived from beginning to end! Thank you to the staff at West Jefferson Hospital, St. Joseph Hospice and all who so generously supported her family during her final days. Flowers are most appreciated, but if you prefer to make a memorial donation please consider one of the following; Children's Hospital of New Orleans ( www.chnola.org ) or the American Cancer Society. Services will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at St. Martha’s Catholic Church, 2555 Apollo Avenue in Harvey, LA, visitation will begin at 9:30AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:30AM.
