Jay graduated from Jesuit High School and after a career in banking, retired as a trust officer from Hibernia National Bank.

He loved to fish, garden, watch wildlife and loved animals. He took pride in his aquariums. He was an avid Saints fan from day one, loved Tulane football and  LSU football, baseball and softball.

In 2008 he was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia and given 3 to 6 months to live. Fortunately he was treated at MD Anderson and being a fighter he lived another 15 years almost to the day.
