Karen Burger

Karen Mary Burger, age 65, departed this life on May 18, 2011. Beloved daughter of Emelda Kerth Trahan and Robert J. Burger, and step-daughter of Clifford J. Trahan, beloved grand daughter of Christian Jacob Kerth, and Hazel Hudson Kerth all of which predeceased her in death. Karen was a native New Orleanian, student of Classical Piano with the Dominican nuns, graduate of Redemptorist High School and Biggers School of Court Reporting. Karen served as an official Court Reporter for the 24th Judicial District Court, retiring after 26 years of service. Throughout her life she was also a teacher of Court Reporting at Delgado Community College. She was also a professional and published astrologer, a certified Reiki Master/ Teacher and Teacher of Meditation with the New Orleans People Program and a jewelry designer whose designs were featured in Gulf Coast Art and Antique Shops. She is survived by her brother Ronald G. Burger, nieces Kristi Burger, Lisa Burger Toler, Dr. Lauren Burger, nephews Brent G., Bryan H. and Christian Jacob Burger and a host of great-nieces and great-nephews, beloved aunt Enez Kerth Ruiz and a host of loving, cherished friends. She would like to give special thanks to Dr. Robert L. Elliott of Baton Rouge, LA for the compassionate care he delivered to her during the course of her illness. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation and Funeral Mass on Monday, May 23, 2011 at St. Henry’s Catholic Church, 803 Gen. Pershing St., New Orleans, LA from 9 AM to 11 AM. Mass following at 11 AM. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery, New Orleans, LA.
