Karen "Chut" Marquette Johnson

Karen “Chut” Marquette Johnson peacefully passed away surrounded by her loved ones on Monday, March 25, 2024, in her home at the age of 64. She is preceded  in death by her loving parents Emile M Marquette Jr., Mildred P Marquette, and her brother Martin “Marty” Marquette III. She is survived by her loving husband of 37 years David A Johnson, and their two adoring children Kasey J Newchurch (Andrew) and Tabitha J Rooney (Chad). She is also survived by her six grandchildren Alyssa Moore (Brandon), Nathan Hewson, Mollie-Mae Rooney, Gavin Rooney, Hailey Rooney and Danielle Rooney. Karen is also a great-grandmother to Lloyd “LJ” and Olivia Moore.  Karen is a native of Gretna, Louisiana. She recently retired for a second time after dedicating over 40 years of her life to the city between Gretna City Hall and the Gretna Police Department. She worked first as a cashier for Gretna City Hall and later continued her career as a deputy clerk with the Gretna Police Department. In her free time, Karen enjoyed spending time with her family. She will be missed greatly by all who have had the pleasure of meeting her. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expy., Harvey, LA on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 from 10:30 AM - 1:30 PM.
