Kathleen B. Rogers

The family of Kathleen “Kathy” Rogers sadly announces her death on July 1, 2024 at West Jefferson Medical Center. Kathy was born on April 6, 1952 in Cleveland, Alabama. She relocated to the New Orleans area in 1964 when her father was transferred to New Orleans by Texaco and quickly grew to love and embrace the lifestyle and the people of Southeast Louisiana. In her younger years Kathy enjoyed spending time at her parent’s camp at Grand Isle (thankfully sold before Katrina) with Alfred (“Al”) Rogers, her husband of thirty-nine years and the love of her life. For a time, Kathy and Al owned a shrimp boat so they could earn “extra money” during Al’s days off as a Captain for Chouest Marine. 

Kathy was a 1970 graduate of Behrman High School, a former Boosterette and a proud “Behrman Bee” whose circle of friends included other Behrman graduates who visited her during her last illness to lift her spirits and the spirits of her family, which it always did. She retired earlier this year from Gator Supply after a 32-year career which began as a secretary and culminated in her working her way up to Assistant Manager.

Kathy was a good wife, sister, aunt, niece, and friend. Her death leaves a hole in the lives of those who knew her. 

Kathy’s survivors include her husband, Al, and his daughters Michelle Valentine (Todd) of Fredericksburg, Texas and Brandy Rogers of Barataria, Louisiana; Kathy’s brother Jim Brown (Nancy Long) of Metairie, Louisiana; Jim’s children, Rachel Perry (Dave) of Los Angeles, California, David Brown of Metairie, Louisiana, Kevin Brown (Liz) of Metairie, Louisiana; Nancy’s son, Arlin Louie of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Todd Bourgeois, Seth Vergona (Kenna), Shayni Doell; great grandchild, Xander Vergona; Kathy’s Aunt, Elizabeth Hicks and Kathy’s cousins, Henry Box (Jeanette), Lane Box (Julia) and Libby Harvey (Keith) and of course, Kathy's beloved JoJo. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, J. Harold Brown and Kathleen Box Brown.

A wake will be held for Kathy on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 from 4:30 P.M until 7:00 P.M at Mothe Funeral Home, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, La. 70072 (504-348-2010). Visitation between 9:30 A.M. and 11:00 A.M., followed by a service at 11:00 A.M. for Kathy will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at the same location.
