Kathleen Besson Shipley

Kathleen Besson Shipley, 79, of Westwego, LA, passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2025, surrounded by her family.

Kathy’s most cherished role in life was as a beloved mother and “Maw-Maw.” She was preceded in death by her son, Wayne Shipley. She is survived by her loving children: Bridget Comardelle (Brent) Justin Shipley, Sr.(Kim) and Sunshine Shipley(Tony) She was the beloved “Maw-Maw” to Joseph Shipley, Sr.( Evynn ), Brett Comardelle(Katie) Justin Shipley, Jr., Kaitlin Shipley( Aiden ), Brendan Comardelle, and Nathan Shipley. She was also a cherished Great-Maw-Maw to Joseph Shipley, Jr. and Bryson Comardelle. Kathy is survived by her husband, Carroll Wayne Shipley, and daughter-in-law, Denise Shipley. Kathy will be deeply missed by her siblings, nieces, nephews, and everyone who knew her.

A native of New Orleans, Louisiana, Kathy was a proud resident of Westwego, Louisiana. Kathy was also well known for her wonderful Cajun cooking. She made the most delicious pot roast, which she shared with all who knew her.

Her hobbies included playing bingo, collecting Elvis memorabilia, and helping others.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Mothe Funeral Home, 7040 Lapalco Blvd. Marrero, LA, on Thursday, April 3, 2025, from 8:00 am -11:00 am. Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation and funeral service. Family visitation will begin at 8:00 am, followed by friends from 9:00 am to 10:15 am. The Service will be from 10:15 am to 11:00 am. Interment private.
