Keion Semoine Hilliard

Keion Semoine Hilliard went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at the age of 35.
Keion is survived by her loving husband Freddie E. Handy of 3 years. They were married in Atlanta, GA on December 31, 2010. Keion is lovingly remembered by her only son, Treion Keegan Hilliard of New Orleans, her mother Hazel J. Bolds, father Brantley Hilliard I, step-mother Andi D. Murray-Hilliard all of New Orleans, grandmother Olivia Johnson, and grandfather Leonard Johnson of Anaheim, California, grandfather Jimmy Bolds of New Orleans, grandfather John Hilliard, Sr. of Chicago, IL. Her older sister Kecia Robinson-Moore and brother-in-law Dwayne Moore of Alpharetta, GA, younger brother Brantley Hilliard, II and sister-in-law Amber E. Hilliard, of Dacula, GA, younger sister Brandi N. Dobney and brother-in-law Christopher Dobney of New Orleans and a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, a niece, cousins and devoted friends. Keion was born in New Orleans, LA on October 3, 1977, she graduated from McDonough 35 in 1996 with honors. She went on to attend Grambling University. Keion had a love for children and gave many years to Jefferson Parish Schools as a school bus driver. She held a CDL and had excelled at her talent as a master driver.
Keion was a faithful member of Christian Unity Baptist Church (CUBC) of New Orleans, LA where Rev. Dr. Dwight Webster is Senior Pastor. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at the tender age of 6 at Beacon Light Baptist Church and was baptized then by Rev. Kirk Jones. Keion enjoyed serving at CUBC as a liturgical dancer and was a teacher for Mawasi Dance Ministry. She also sung alto in the Unity Choir and was an active member of the Jeremiah Group, a political activist organization. Keion was adamant about praising and serving the Lord and she did just that until the day He called her home.
Keion was a devoted mother to her son Treion and faithfully attended all activities concerning him, motherhood was truly her joy. She was also an avid reader and belonged to several book clubs, she collected movies of all genres as well and was especially fond of the classics.
The visitation will be held at Christian Unity Baptist Church, 1700 Conti St., New Orleans, LA 70113 on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 from 10 am - 11 am. Funeral services immediately following at 11 am. Rev. Dr. Dwight Webster officiating. She will be laid to rest at Mt. Olivet Cemetery located at 4000 Norman Mayer Ave., New Orleans, LA 70122. A repast will take place at Christian Unity Baptist Church immediately following.
