Kelly Lockwood Alfortish

February 28, 1972 — March 14, 2025

New Orleans, LA

It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the passing of Kelly Lockwood Alfortish, age 53, who courageously battled ovarian cancer for two years. She was a true warrior and fought bravely until the very end.

Kelly was born on February 28, 1972 in New Orleans, LA and passed away on March 14, 2025. She was the daughter of Jan Savoie Lockwood and the late John Lockwood.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Timothy, and her two beautiful and adoring daughters, Emily and Ashley; her mother, Jan Lockwood, and sister, Katie Fairchild (Scott). She was preceded in death by her father, John Lockwood and her grandparents, Jodie and Hilda Savoie of Cameron and Allen and Ethel Lockwood of Baton Rouge.

She will be dearly missed by her large family of nieces and nephews, in-laws, cousins, and countless friends, all of whom held a special place in her heart.

Kelly graduated from St. Mary’s Dominican High School as a National Merit Scholarship Finalist and went on to earn a degree in Civil Engineering from LSU. She began her career in engineering design at URS (formerly Walk, Haydel & Associates) before earning an MBA from UNO and transitioning into financial management. After Hurricane Katrina, she shifted her focus to redeveloping the family’s damaged rental properties and played an instrumental role in restoring the neighborhood through her work with the Lakeview Civic Association. Later, she dedicated her expertise to helping develop her husband’s family business, bringing her technical knowledge to its success. Throughout her entire life, there wasn’t a problem Kelly couldn’t solve with her endless patience and perseverance.

While she found fulfillment in her professional accomplishments, nothing was more important to Kelly than being the best mother to her beloved daughters. Kelly and Timmy wholeheartedly supported their daughters’ dreams of sailing competitively and loved traveling with them to their regattas. Kelly found great joy in volunteering to promote junior sailing. Her unwavering drive to help others and her boundless dedication made her a pillar of support both within her family and the sailing community.

Her remarkable spirit and compassion will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
