Kelly Lynn Smith Long

December 19, 1969 — December 30, 2024

Belle Chasse, LA

On December 30, 2024, Kelly Lynn Long, beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, entered into eternal rest, surrounded by the love of her family. Kelly is survived by her devoted husband of 28 years, Lee E. Long; her loving children, Lindsey Long and William Long; and her cherished nieces and nephews: Marcus Smith IV, Lauren Smith, Gavin Smith, Mark Shamas Jr., Elizabeth Shamas, Madison Champagne, and Ruel Smith Jr. She is preceded in death by her precious son, Lee Edward Long Jr.; her loving mother, Linda Sue Smith; and is also survived by her father, Marcus Smith. Kelly was the beloved sister of Marc Smith (Michelle), Kendall Shamas (Mark), and Ruel Smith.

Kelly’s life was a testament to unwavering faith, resilience, and the immeasurable love she had for her family. She faced life’s greatest heartbreak with the loss of her son, Lee Jr., and yet her devotion to her children, her husband, and her faith never wavered. Though the journey that followed was marked by challenges, Kelly embraced it with grace, strength, and an enduring love for others. Her gentle strength was evident in the way she created a home full of warmth, encouragement, and unwavering support. She was a devoted mother, a loving wife, and a steadfast friend, always putting the needs of others before her own.

A proud and active member of St. Andrew the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, Kelly’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. She found solace and hope in her relationship with Christ and shared that light with others. She was deeply devoted to her family, cheering on her children in gymnastics, soccer, cheerleading, and golf, and remaining actively involved in their schools—Ursuline Academy, Archbishop Shaw High School, and Holy Cross High School. Kelly’s love for her children and family radiated in everything she did, making her a true inspiration to all who knew her.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Andrew the Apostle Church (3131 Eton St. New Orleans, LA 70131), followed by the Catholic Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 p.m., presided by Fr. John Talamo.

Kelly’s legacy is one of boundless love, steadfast faith, and unrelenting devotion to her family. Though her absence leaves an immeasurable void, her spirit and example will continue to guide those who loved her. She was truly one of a kind, and her memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
