Kelly Gautreaux Plaisance departed this world peacefully on November 8, 2022, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Kelly was only 51 years young. She fought a valiant fight, but after 9 years of fighting cancer, her body became tired, and her spirit was ready to move on to eternal rest. Kelly was a lifelong resident of Westwego. She enjoyed bingo and nickel slots at the casino. Her favorite restaurant was Deanie’s Seafood in Bucktown where she loved the frozen pina colada ice cream. She attended L.W. Higgins High School and her last & most loved job was at Stella Worley Junior High School, as an assistant disciplinarian. Kelly was survived by her husband and soulmate of 20 years, Berthran Plaisance Jr. Survived by adult children, Quince Gautreaux-Sanchez & Devin Plaisance; and one granddaughter, Harper Plaisance. Proceeded in Death by her grandmother Lucy “Granny” Mary Dominick Gautreaux, Mother Patsy Foster Speaks, Father Donlee “Skeet” Gautreaux, Brother Jason Deogracias and Brother-in-Law Kyle Plaisance. Siblings include her “bestest” friend and sister Dorothy Naquin-Plaisance (Keith), Keith Gautreaux (Kim), Kevin Gautreaux, Kim Cooley, Keri Woechan (Kenneth), and Denis Naquin. Daughter-in-law of Brenda Plaisance (Bert Sr.); Sister-in-law of Karen (Thomas “Peanut”) Griffin, Dana (David) Matherne, & Darnell (Matt) Davis. Numerous aunts and uncles, Joan Stanley (Terry), Angelle (Ronnie) Martin; nieces, nephews and god-children, Teddi Leigh, Randy “Bubby” Jr., Angelica, Kevin Jr., Quinn, Jasmine, Tristen “Pickle”, Talon, Ledger, Kayla, Kyle, Kirk, Corey, Derrick, Joel, Jarrett, Matt Jr, Gavin, Kaeli, Luke, Alex and Emma. Family wants to extend heartfelt thanks to Hearts of Hospice for assisting Kelly with transitioning into her next life while making her comfortable until the very end. Kelly will leave a hole in many of our hearts, and we take consolation in knowing we will see her again one day. Until then….
