Kenneth Lee Cooper

Kenneth Lee Cooper went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on November 27, 2024 at the age of 71. Kenny was born in Pampa, Texas on August 22, 1953 to Morris "Pete" Lee Cooper and Delores McAdams Cooper. He and his family were longtime residents of Miami, Oklahoma. 

He excelled in the classroom and athletics before graduating from Miami High School in 1971. He began his college education at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M Junior College receiving an associate's degree and then continued his education at Oklahoma State University where he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1976. Kenny went on to have a long and prosperous career with Texaco/Chevron.

Kenny was a true servant of the Lord. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to whoever needed it. He had many God given talents and skills which he faithfully used to serve his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He served as a Deacon at Calvary Baptist Church for over 30 years and taught Bible study and Financial Peace classes. In addition to his many contributions to his church, he also served his community by coaching multiple sports at Mel Ott Park for many years and also by helping in any way he could at his grandson's high school, Archbishop Shaw. Through his coaching and his service, he was able to positively influence the many young people he encountered.

Kenny was a loyal and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He loved nothing more than spending time with his family and friends and doing things for and with his grandchildren.

Kenny is preceded in death by his father, Morris "Pete" Cooper, his mother, Delores McAdams Cooper Hall and step-father Neal Hall and brother-in-law, Bob Paine.

Kenny is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Janell Babin Cooper; his two daughters Dr. Shelly Moon (husband Matt), Kelly Marbry (husband Clay); grandchildren Luke, Jack, Kaylen, Cooper, Elizabeth and Steven; sister Kim Paine (deceased Bob); brother Dr. Kary Cooper (wife Shelly); brother-in-law Ronald Babin (wife Kathy); nephews Collin Cooper (wife Dr. Chloe), Carson Cooper (wife MaKenzie), Camden Cooper (wife Amy); niece Lori Reed (husband Shawn); great nieces Eleanor Cooper and Mackenzie Reed and many cousins.

Services will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, 2401 General DeGaulle, New Orleans, LA at 2:00pm for family viewing and 2:30pm for friends visitation with the funeral service to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Calvary Baptist Church.
